The short version
- Installing SkiSquad, recording and your own stats are free.
- Ski days and the season pass are one-time purchases through Google Play or the App Store. There is no subscription, and nothing renews by itself.
- SkiSquad is not a safety device. Ski by what you see, the resort’s signs and the ski patrol, not by your phone.
- Share only your own days, invite only people you know, and play fair on the leaderboards.
Who you agree with
These terms are the agreement between you and Igor Jambrek, who makes and runs SkiSquad: the app, its server and this website. By creating an account or using the app, you accept them. What SkiSquad does with your data is on the privacy page.
Your account
- You need to be old enough to agree to these terms where you live. If you aren’t, a parent or guardian has to agree for you.
- Use a name your squad will recognise, and keep your sign-in to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
- An account is for one person, and records that person’s own ski days.
- You can delete your account at any time, in Settings or as Delete your account explains.
Squads
- Anyone with a squad’s invite link or code can join it, so share it only with the people you want in. A squad’s owner can remove members.
- The members of a squad see what you share with it, as the privacy page describes. Share a day with a squad only if you are happy for its members to see where you are.
- Everyone decides for themselves what they share. Never set up SkiSquad on someone else’s phone to follow them without their knowledge.
Safety on the mountain
- SkiSquad is not a safety, rescue or avalanche device, and doesn’t replace one. Keep your phone in your pocket while you ski.
- The map, the runs and lifts, the directions and whether a lift or piste is open come from map data and the resorts, and can be wrong or out of date. Follow the resort’s signs, its closures and the ski patrol, and ski only what you can ski safely.
- A position on the map can be minutes old or many metres off, and a friend disappears from it where there is no signal or when their battery runs out.
- Safety alerts (low battery, or not moving for a long time) are a nudge for friends, not a rescue service: nobody watches them, and they can arrive late or not at all. In an emergency, call 112 or the local mountain rescue.
Using SkiSquad fairly
Please don’t:
- use SkiSquad for anything unlawful, or to follow, harass or threaten anyone;
- choose a name for yourself or a squad that is offensive or pretends to be someone else;
- send made-up recordings to climb a leaderboard;
- try to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours, overload the server, or copy its data by automated means.
Ski days and the season pass
- Recording, your own stats, the map and your squad on it are free. A covered ski day adds the squad features listed under Pricing, and your first shared ski day is covered for free.
- You buy ski days and the season pass in the app, from Google Play or the App Store, which take the payment under their own terms. The price is the one the store shows you, in your currency, with your country’s taxes included.
- A ski day is used only when you choose it, at Start or later that day, and unused days don’t expire while SkiSquad runs. Days belong to the account they were bought for: they can’t be moved to another account or exchanged for money.
- When you buy days for your squad, each person you chose gets their days on their own account, and the purchase can’t be changed afterwards.
- The season pass covers every day of one season, from 1 July to 30 June, and doesn’t renew. Everything bought for you in a season counts toward it, so a season never costs more than the pass.
- Refunds are handled by the store you paid: ask Google Play or Apple. A refunded purchase takes back the days it gave, and a day that was covered with them is no longer covered. Your recordings and stats stay as they are.
Nothing here takes away the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
Your recordings
What you record stays yours. You let SkiSquad store it and show it to you and to the squads you share it with, as the privacy page describes, only to run the service. Deleting a day or your account ends that.
Map data
The runs and lifts come from OpenSkiMap, built on OpenStreetMap, the background map from OpenFreeMap, and the open or closed state of lifts and pistes, where it is shown, from the resorts’ public data. Other people make them, and nobody can promise they are complete or correct.
Changes
SkiSquad will change: features come, go and work differently. Prices may change for future purchases, never for one you have already made. If SkiSquad ever closes, the app will say so well before.
These terms may change too. The date at the top says when they last did, and a change that matters to you is announced in the app before it applies. If you don’t agree with a change, you can delete your account.
Ending an account
You can stop using SkiSquad and delete your account whenever you like. An account that breaks these terms seriously or again and again can be suspended or deleted; where possible, you are told why by email first.
Responsibility
SkiSquad is provided as it is, without a promise that it is always available or free of errors. As far as the law allows, its maker isn’t responsible for injuries, accidents or losses that come from using it or relying on it, or for indirect losses. This doesn’t limit any responsibility the law doesn’t allow to be limited, such as for harm caused on purpose or by gross negligence, and it doesn’t limit your rights as a consumer.
Google Play and the App Store
Google and Apple are not part of this agreement and are not responsible for SkiSquad or its support. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple’s standard licence for apps applies as well.
